Altitude with Attitude: A Second Life® Group of the Independent State of Caledon

In the past few weeks I've encountered unusually strong and distracting sim-cross effects that make flying and navigation impossible. The effect lasts anywhere from 5 to 20 seconds.

I wondered if other SL Pilots have had this experience as well. Please let me know in the comments

SL has been glitchier than normal the last couple of weeks. While I haven't been doing any flying myself, I've noticed the old Jira has sprung to life again.

Oh! So it isn't just me?

I've been so frustrated of late, I was near tears thinking I would have to give up flying.

I commented same to many folks. Border crossings were horrible. Even crossing at a slight angle or applying rudder put me in spins that crashed every time. This has been about two weeks for me now. ::sympathy::

Even worse this weekend... crossing with =no= vehicle sometimes crashed my AV.

I've experienced them as well, but usually in 1-2 week periods. Sometimes bad enough to cause one of my 60-meter airships to pirouette on it's bow. It's been okay lately though, and not too long ago I did a high-speed run from Middlesea to Winterfell Storisende and back down to Caer Firnas with only a few hairy moments. I did lose the plane once on the last leg to CCF, requiring a re-rez to fly back to CMS. But I guess that's what insurance and a parachute are for. Where do you encounter the most turbulence? I'll do another run and see how it goes.

Well, unfortunately my luck did not hold. Flying through Caledon wasn't too bad, but halfway through Winterfell I lost control of the plane and ended up on the ground some 45 seconds later. No idea where the plane went. I decided to try just avi-flying through Winterfell. Still bad. For some reason I would end up on the ground again even though I'm flying at cloud level. I must've just had a lucky day last time. Would someone happen to have the link to the appropriate jira issue for this? Thanks. ^^

Okay, got an update. The time of day seems to play a part in this. This mornings test, I didn't even make it through Winterfell. This evening, however, I flew at full throttle from the Iron Cloud to Winterfell Storisende, then south to New Brunswick, then back to the Iron Cloud, even flying through Tamranoch on the way back! The only hiccup was as I was re-entering Caer Firnas, which went on for about ten seconds. The rest of the sim crossings only took a second or two. As an aside, but likely related: teleports are operating at record speed (avg 1.5 seconds from start to arrival). That might be an indicator of region handoff health. Not sure how well this'll work into folks schedules, but if this pattern continues, we may want to consider having the dogfights at night. I'll continue testing throughout the week and see how it goes, but I suspect LL fixed *something*, because rarely have I seen the TP's go so fast, and it's been a constant tonight.
